Member Ken is offering for sale his 1997 CItroën Xantia 2.0i 16v 5-speed manual. Ken writes about the vehicle:
I bought this vehicle during my working holiday back in 2019. Since that time it's taken me on adventures big and small, most recently this month I've enjoyed over 1,000 smooth kilometres between Melbourne, Eildon and Echuca. In the times I've been in the UK it's been a second car to my friend in the suburbs of Melbourne but with them now having a second car of their own, it's sadly time for me to find it a new owner.
Over the years in my ownership it's benefitted from lots of maintenenance. On my current trip I've brought and fitted 2 brand new front suspension spheres, as well as having the main accumulator sphere replaced, as well as in previous years the rear spheres meaning it's riding like a cloud. I've always ensured it's been looked after by myself and Salman, including a replacement of the entire exhaust including catalytic converter, a fresh Timing Belt and water pump, new brake pads all round, and several oil changes. Its hydraulic system has had something of an overhaul with the infamous T pieces replaced to prevent LHM leaks. I've made sure it's been given the maintainance it deserves.
The interior is in great condition for its age. What's less perfect is the external cosmetics. Over its 29 years the sun has done its work on the clearcoat and although its panels are fundamentally fine, it's not going to win any "show and shine" awards. Internally however it's very good. The fabrics and dash are almost pristine, save for a couple of minor issues with the back of the seats and small heat damage on the dash.
There are a few issues which I haven't yet resolved. The coolant pipes to the internal heater core are not connected, meaning the air won't blow warm, but he A/C works well however. It'll need the front 2 tyres replacing, and there's a couple of electrical gremlins with the blowers, central locking and fuel gauge. Given my short time in Melbourne it's unlikely I'll be able to arrange for a Roadworthy meaning it'll be sold without one.
Mechanically it's perfect - it drives well, the suspension is spot on, gear changes are smooth, steering is straight and true.
It's been close to my heart over the years, and it's a reluctant sale of my childhood dream only because of living 20,000km away. I'm listing it at $1,000 ONO, but my real hope with the sale is that it goes on to be used and loved by someone as much as I have. I want it to go to someone who will treasure it for the classic it is, and will allow it to live the life it deserves. I'm happy for anyone to get in touch with me with any enquiries at id@kenbw2.me.uk. I'm happy to take viewings and test drives, being based in Deer Park and can bring the Xantia to any serious enquiries. As a CCCV member the Xantia and I will be attending the club meet on Thursday 19th February
